I have always delighted in the way things look. I feel a need to rearrange my environment; this might look better on the other side of the room so the light hits it just so. I'm a sucker for color too. I'd buy paint just to look at the colors and play with the paint tubes and jars. Rearrange them; watch how the colors change as they interact together. Luscious magenta and cerise, serene ultramarine and violet, even black and brown, I love them all, and I can't resist any.

Then there are the many images that beg to be captured and transformed. I like to work with simple things, things that will hold still to be studied as I paint them.

I like to paint things bigger than life so I can really explore and explode tiny details. The ruffled leaf's edge, the translucent light through a petal or glass bowl. Ultimately the canvas becomes its own universe as the paint recreates my world into another form.
